Traver Gallery is pleased to present New Works, a solo exhibition by renowned master glass artist, Dante Marioni. In this, his 15th solo exhibition at Traver Gallery, Marioni continues to push the limits of the material. Using innovative and complex cane patterns on flawlessly crafted forms, Marioni successfully draws our attention to the optics and elegance of his contemporary glass sculptures. Classically inspired forms, vivid color palette, and extraordinary technical skill make Dante Marioni’s work instantly recognizable and intensely unique. For Dante, the art has always been about the act of glassblowing. Throughout the years, he has continued to refine his designs and push his skills to the limit. His newest series of Leaf forms exemplify this pursuit, with improbable symmetry and striking cane patterns they balance elegantly at heights of up to three and a half feet. We are thrilled to present this new exhibition and invite you to join us in celebrating Dante’s extraordinary talent and achievement in glass.
Dante Marioni has exhibited extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia with galleries and museums alike. His work is included in the permanent collections of both national and international museums, including the White House Crafts Collection, the Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian, and the Chrysler Museum. Seattle Art Museum, Seattle, WA, Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NY, Mint Museum of Craft and Design, Charlotte, NC, The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, Japan. Marioni has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Elected Fellow of the American Craft Council College of Fellows, New York, NY, First Place, Reticello Competition, Ebeltoft Museum, Ebeltoft, Denmark, Outstanding Achievement in glass, Urban Glass Award, New York, NY, the Young Americans Award, American Craft Museum Council, New York, NY and The Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award.
