The Fire Age
Dafna Kaffeman

We are thrilled to welcome newly represented artist Dafna Kaffeman to the gallery in July for her debut solo exhibition, The Fire Age.
Dafna Kaffeman has been engaged in artistic creation for over two decades, combining techniques of drawing and printmaking while employing glass as her primary medium. Dafna’s work with glass is done using a torch – by using live fire, she harnesses the material’s properties; namely fragility, refraction, and transparency, into a variety of works addressing socio-political issues.
The exhibition presents twelve glass pieces that serve as evidence of a bygone ecosystem, providing a piercing gaze into the heart of the earth. The fossils, relics the artist views as a combination of soil and organism, are captured by hand drawing in pencil on paper alongside a flameworked glass drawing. Through her artistic lens, these ephemeral elements are transformed into tangible expressions, preserved for posterity.
