Traver Gallery is pleased to present a new exhibition of ceramic sculpture by Japanese-born, American-based artist Jun Kaneko. This noteworthy exhibition brings together a significant collection of masterworks from the artist. Known for his experimental ceramic works and public installations, his artistry transcends beyond a singular medium. Kaneko seamlessly integrates painting, drawing, and sculpture, utilizing various methodologies to explore the relational aspects of scale and environment.
On October 21st, Jun Kaneko will be honored with the International Sculpture Center’s 2021 Lifetime Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award. This esteemed award recognizes individual sculptors who have made exemplary contributions to the field of sculpture. Awardees are masters of sculptural processes and techniques who have devoted their careers to the development of a laudable body of work, as well as to the advancement of the sculpture field as a whole. Past recipients include Magdalena Abakanowicz, Fernando Botero, Louise Bourgeois, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Claes Oldenburg, and Coosje van Bruggen, Nam June Paik, Robert Rauschenberg, Kiki Smith, Frank Stella, and many others.
