Muscle Memory, Discontinued

RSVP at Info@travergallery.com or 206-587-6501
As part of Seattle Art and Culture Week, Traver Gallery will host a special event in conjunction with Wunderkammer on Saturday, September 27, 3–5 pm.
The afternoon opens with a conversation between artist Cathy McClure, Pacific Northwest Ballet Soloist and choreographer Leah Terada, and artist and arts administrator Paula Stokes. Following the discussion, Terada and collaborators will present a movement-based performance responding directly to McClure’s work. The choreography will activate the gallery, bringing McClure’s sculptures into dialogue with the body and highlighting themes of memory, transformation, and reinvention.
Terada describes Muscle Memory, Discontinued as “an anti-disciplinary study of a tuning body and interrogates conversations between function and frivolity, animation and reserve, and machine and memory. It is a consideration of what is valuable and enjoyable to our hearts, eyes, and ears.”
This program is open to all ages.
