In this, his 15th solo exhibition at Traver Gallery, Marioni continues to push the limits of his craft. Using innovative and complex cane patterns on flawlessly crafted forms, Marioni successfully draws our attention to the optics and elegance of his contemporary glass sculptures. Classically inspired forms, vivid color palette, and extraordinary technical skill make Dante’s work instantly recognizable and intensely unique. For Dante, the art has always been about the act of glassblowing. Throughout the years he has continued to refine his designs and push his skills to the limit. His newest series of Leaf forms exemplify this pursuit, with improbable symmetry and striking cane patterns they balance elegantly at heights of up to three and a half feet. We are thrilled to present this new exhibition and invite you to join us in celebrating Dante’s extraordinary talent and achievement in glass.
Dante Marioni’s flawlessly executed blown glass forms are intensely individual and instantly recognizable, combining a deep reverence for the history and tradition of glassmaking with a masterful, and distinctly modern, sense of design.
For Marioni, making objects is about the art of glassblowing rather than the creation of glass art, the process rather than the result. Marioni’s elegant works are the brilliant record of his on-going relationship with and exploration of this material
