Doug Jeck: Body

Doug Jeck body

June 1 - July 30, 2017
June 1, 5-8pm

UNTITLED 12

In this exhibition, Jeck features twelve strikingly austere unglazed terracotta busts, each one paired with a soundtrack of a humming human voice. With these heads he portrays the notion and phenomenon of body as a collective entity, i.e. body politic, body of evidence, body of knowledge, body of Christ, parent body, corporate body, student body, clay body, etc. Jeck says of this new body of work, "these head forms are purely inventions- intimations, not portraits. They are inanimate clay objects - my creative human threshold".

Ethan Stern: Cut Clear

Ethan Stern Cut Clear

June 1 - July 1, 2017
June 1, 5-8pm

CUTCLEAR FIN

With this new exhibition, Seattle-based artist, Ethan Stern, continues to explore how his blown and carved glass sculptures can manipulate and alter light, and how he, as a sculptor, can use light itself as a medium. In a dramatic shift, Stern has opted to diverge from the color-laden forms for which he is known. By using only clear glass and a traditional glass-cutting lathe Stern has created a body of work that is utterly contemporary and unique.
